about

The Caveman’s Modular was recorded in 1996 on reel tape as two different processes of the same length.

These two tapes were re-recorded on another reel tape using left channel for one take and right channel for another one. The resulting tape was 2-fold slowed down by mechanical switching of reel-to-reel tape recorder speed.

OF COURSE, NO SYNTHESIZERS OR COMPUTERS WERE USED.

All effects were made using two reel-to-reel tape recorders, interconnected to form electronic feedback loop, when first recorder fed its output signal to input socket of second recorder, which, in turn, did the same process for the first recorder. Both tape recorders were in recording mode, each one had its own tape to record simultaneously. Their recording volume knobs were used as controllers to suppress the feedback signal of each recorder in a competitive way.
